The Ultimate Volunteer Experience with The OSCAR Foundation in India

Looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution while immersing yourself in a new culture?

Volunteering with OSCAR offers the chance to support young people in India while becoming part of a global community committed to creating positive change.

OSCAR transforms the lives of children and young people from under-served communities through football, education and youth leadership. As a volunteer, you’ll play an important role in supporting this work while experiencing India in a way few travellers ever do.

Make an Impact

Volunteers motivate, lead, share life experiences, teach basic computer skills, English and mathematics, football drills and skills, support our staff in the office and take part in many other activities.” Lucinda Sowerbutts, OSCAR International

Whether you’re coaching football, helping with community centre activities, supporting community events or assisting with admin, every volunteer contributes to creating opportunities for young people to learn, lead and thrive.

More Than Volunteering

Volunteering with OSCAR is about much more than giving your time. It is an opportunity to challenge yourself, build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of different cultures and communities.

Working alongside OSCAR’s Head of Volunteers, Kumar Rathod, OSCAR children, Young Leaders, coaches and fellow volunteers breaks down barriers and creates meaningful connections that often last long after the programme ends.

“Volunteering with OSCAR pushes you out of your comfort zone. Travelling on local trains, working in rural villages, sleeping on ground mats, eating local food and, above all, working with children who, despite living in poverty, are full of laughter and love. It is humbling and rewarding in equal measures.” Ruby, OSCAR Young Ambassador

A Unique Cultural Experience

Volunteers are based in Mumbai and have the opportunity to visit OSCAR projects in rural Karnataka and Rajasthan. Along the way, you’ll experience India’s rich culture, vibrant communities, spicy food and incredible hospitality.

The programme combines cultural immersion, personal growth and meaningful impact. While communities benefit from your contribution, volunteers consistently tell us that the experience changes them too.
