Youth Leadership India Programme

Young Leader Programme in India

It is the leadership abilities of young people that has enabled OSCAR to grow and reach out to more vulnerable young children. The Young Leader programme is a three-month intensive leadership training, offered to beneficiaries identified as having leadership potential. The training focuses on professional development, football coaching skills and encourages participants to become mentors in the communities they live and work in. The programme gives young people:

  • Increased confidence and self-belief
  • Transferable skills, including leadership and responsibility
  • Empowerment to be the agents for change in the community
  • Improved employability

More than 450 youths from states across India have completed the programme. An OSCAR young leader mentors over 30 children twice a week, inspiring them to become community role models and reach their maximum potential, at school, on the pitch and in their daily lives. We also take young people from other NGOs or football clubs who want to build capacity in this area. The OSCAR programme currently has 187 Young Leaders, more than half of whom are girls.

Generation Amazing Ambassadors

Generation Amazing uses football for development initiatives to address social issues in countries with an identified need, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through the construction of community football pitches, the delivery of comprehensive football for development training and the involvement of young people, the programme reaches some of the world’s most excluded people, especially those experiencing high levels of deprivation. It also promotes sustainable behaviours among young people in Qatar and across the region.

Success Stories

International Young Leaders

The OSCAR International Young Leader programme engages likeminded young people from around the world; empowering them with skills to become true Global Citizens and to work towards creating a better world for everyone.

We hope the experience of being part of this programme will enrich lives, as well as creating better opportunities for children growing up in some of the poorest slum communities in Asia. Applications can be made here:
